What are demons and are there more than one kind?

Sair:  demon, hairy one, aka goat.    Emblem for Satan.

Lev 17:7 Don’t ever turn from me again and offer sacrifices to goat-demons.  This law will never change.

Shed: demon, aka destroyer.   Demons who are around idols and idol worship.   False religions actually worship demons.  Deu 32:17 You offered sacrifices to demons, those useless gods that never helped you, new gods that your ancestors never worshiped.

Daimon-groups of demons, all demons in general.Rev 16:14    For they are spirits of demons, working miracles, which go forth to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that day, the great day of God Almighty.

Daimonion- demons who are attached to certain sickness, strife, anger, etc. Mat 9:32  As they were going out, a mute, demon-possessed man was brought to Him. Mat 9:33  After the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke; and the crowds were amazed, and were saying, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”

Daimonizomai-demonized, possessed with a devil, physically, mentally, or spiritually.   These evil spirits are also called “growing death” or malignant evil because it is like cancer…it just gets worse and more powerful if untreated. Mat 15:22  And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed.” Mat 8:16  When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill.

Foul demons-unclean spirits, spirits who are attached to sexual sins i.e., porn, lesbianism, homosexuality, adultery, etc. Note* Most common demon.

Luk 11:24  “When the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and not finding any, it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’”      Luk 11:25  “And when it comes, it finds it swept and put in order.    Luk 11:26  “Then it goes and takes along seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first.”

Pneuma-spirit or Spirit.  Depends on the context this word is used.  It can either be Holy Spirit, human spirit, human attitude like renewing of the mind.

Act 19:12  so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out.   Eph 6:12  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Spirits of infirmity, demons of weakness or sickness.

Note* Sickness can come from demons or curses…although both come from Satan himself.

Luk 13:11  And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all.   Luk 13:12  When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your sickness.”    Rom 8-entire chapter

*Note when someone is sick, pray against the sickness itself.  Romans 8 tells us Jesus said to speak to the mountain and it shall throw itself into the sea… or speak to the fig tree. Therefore, speak to the sickness… for all things Christ created and they have ears to ear the Word of God. And remember Satan cannot take advantage of you unless you let him.

Spirits of giveanation- demon who gives a person the ability to perform something unexplained.

Act 16:16  One day on our way to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl.   She had a spirit in her that gave her the power to tell the future.   By doing this she made a lot of money for her owners.

Members of cults or even witchcraft open the doors for demons to enter through.  The demons are just a continuation of the desires of our flesh.

Gal 5:19  People’s desires make them give in to immoral ways, filthy thoughts, and shameful deeds.   Gal 5:20  They worship idols, practice witchcraft, hate others, and are hard to get along with. People become jealous, angry, and selfish.

Planos- demons of seduction, enticement, and deceiving.

1Ti 1:4  nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies (which provide doubts rather than the nurture of God in faith).   Jam 1:14  But each one is tempted by his lusts, being drawn away and seduced by them.   Jam 1:15  Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin. And sin, when it is fully formed, brings forth death.

These demons entice a person through his/her flesh and then they become attached or an extension to our flesh through anger, sex, greed, jealousy, etc.

Note: Giving into our fleshly desires makes us numb to the will of God and that leads to demon oppression. I.e., drugs, alcohol, porn, sex, etc.  Shut the door on Satan and his demons…repent…

1Jo 1:9  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1Co 6:19  Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, whom you have of God? And you are not your own.

1Co 6:20  for you are bought with a price.   Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. Possession cannot happen to an unbeliever because God dwells in us.  Oppression, however can effect Christians and cause sickness or disease.  These demons can effect our body, mind, thoughts which can lead us to depression or even mental illness.
